2020 Step Big Walk for Parkinson's is going ALL VIRTUAL!!!
With the safety of all our walk participants and volunteers at the forefront, the South Dakota Parkinson Foundation has made the decision to change the Step Big Walk for Parkinson’s from a hybrid event to an all virtual walk event. After careful thought and consideration, the foundation has decided hosting a virtual event is our safest option at this time. While it saddens us that we will not be able to see you in person we have no doubt that together we can still support our loved ones touched by Parkinson’s disease by creating a fun and unique virtual walk experience for family members, friends and coworkers from all over!
With this change, we have also decided that the registration fees will remain at $25 (adults) and $15 (youth) and we will not increase on August 1st as previously advertised. Although this event remains a fundraiser for the SD Parkinson Foundation we also want to shift our focus to encourage participation and help us in raising awareness about Parkinson’s disease.
The 2020 Step Big Challenge will also begin on August 1st and run through August 31st. This is yet another fun way to encourage participation from the comforts of your own hometown. Together, we hope to walk/run a total of 1,000 miles during the month of August. We will be providing a fun walk calendar that you can use to help track your miles throughout the month and we also want to encourage you to post pictures of you and your team members on various social media outlets or by emailing your pictures to sdpfevent@outlook.com. Staying active and exercising daily plays such an important role in slowing the progression of Parkinson’s disease and now we can all join together in supporting each other and inspiring everyone to walk/run.
Thank you for your understanding during this ever-changing time that we are living in. We continue to move forward and stay focused on the positive in every situation. We value you and appreciate all that you do to support the SDPF mission to improve the quality of life for those touched by Parkinson’s disease.
